Veluvana is a row of animal-themed bamboo houses on the edge of Sidemen, the quiet rice-farming valley under Mount Agung, and the Owl is the one everyone photographs — a swooping two-level build with a roof like folded wings. Inside is one open-plan bedroom with a draped king bed, two bathrooms, and a private plunge pool off the deck with paddies in front and the volcano behind. Breakfast is included and staff can sort drivers, massages and trekking guides. Sidemen itself is the draw: an hour from Ubud's crowds, walking paths through the terraces, weaving workshops in the village, and salak farms up the road. Practical notes: it is built for two, the open design means insects visit (the bed net handles them), and evenings get cool enough for a light layer. Rates float between roughly $150 and $280 a night depending on season, which is fair for what it is.
