Home/Bali/Hideout Bali — Eco Bamboo Stay (The Original)
The place

The one that started Bali's bamboo-house boom. A two-storey house built almost entirely of bamboo, sitting beside a small river in Selat, East Bali, at the foot of Mount Agung — about 90 minutes' drive from Ubud. Downstairs is an open-air living space with a hammock, bean bags and a proper kitchen; upstairs a king bed under a mosquito net, with a triangular window framing the stream. The shower is outdoors, facing the trees, and the river is loud enough to sleep to — pack earplugs if that worries you. Most openings have no glass, so geckos and the odd insect are part of the deal. You will want a scooter or a driver: the nearest warungs are a ride away, and day trips run to Sidemen's rice terraces and the Agung water temples. It books out months ahead, and it earned that.
