A stilted two-storey treehouse at Khao Sok Tree House Resort in Phanom district, on the doorstep of Khao Sok National Park — one of the oldest rainforests on earth, all limestone cliffs and gibbon calls at dawn. The room puts you up at canopy level with a balcony into the trees; the resort below has a pool, a restaurant and staff who book the park activities everyone comes for: guided jungle hikes to waterfalls, longtail and canoe trips on the Sok River, and the unmissable day trip to Cheow Lan Lake about an hour away, where karst towers rise straight out of green water. The park entrance is minutes from the gate, so you can walk the trails before the tour groups arrive. Expect jungle realities — humidity, bugs, and the odd monkey raid if you leave food on the balcony. Around $100–125 a night for the big treehouse; simpler rooms in the resort run cheaper.
