A three-storey bamboo treehouse on a farm sanctuary in Mae Wang, about an hour southwest of Chiang Mai, where the fenced 2,500-square-metre garden is home to 59 vaccinated rescue cats who will absolutely visit your terrace. The treehouse itself is properly built — designed by the architect behind a Six Senses resort — with a king floor mattress (an extra single can be added), a big terrace with fast wifi for working, a basic kitchen, and an outdoor bathroom with a hot-water bathtub. A generous Thai breakfast with organic juice is included, and the wider 300-rai property is orange and longan orchards plus a reforestation area with 50,000 planted trees; your money goes to cat food and care. Mountain views at sunrise, total quiet at night. Obviously skip it if you are allergic, and note it is not suitable for toddlers. One of the most genuinely original stays in northern Thailand.
